St Joseph's Catholic Primary School

Part of the Diocese of Portsmouth, St Joseph's Roman Catholic Primary School is based in Aldershot, Hampshire. The School teaches around 500 pupils, all of whom need regular access to computers to meet the criteria of the National Curriculum.

With this in mind, Headmaster Bill James had ambitious plans to expand St Joseph's ICT provision. Pupils were already using a number of workstations, connected to the School's Windows NT4 based network, but the system wasn't giving as good a service as it could. If the school was going to improve its technology facilities, it would have to think big

Bill decided on a brand new ICT suite, complete with integrated multimedia and presentation capabilities and 80 fully equipped workstations. His overriding criterion was that any new technology must integrate with the existing computer network.

This included the software used to integrate the system and to limit pupil access. Bill found the solution in SchoolSuite. Our software gives teachers complete control over all the pupil activity on the network, allowing the class to work as individuals and be supported by the teacher on a one-to-one or group basis.

Bill’s vision was realised in May 2002 when Sister Mary-Jo Martin, Director of Education for the Diocese of Portsmouth, officially opened St Joseph’s ICT suite.

Thanks to Bill, the School now has one of the best equipped technology suites of any primary school, which its pupils can use to their best possible advantage thanks to SchoolSuite.
