This video demonstrates how to use the HAL Configuration Wizard (HalTest) to configure an emergency recovery menu that will allow a different HAL and Kernel combination to be selected by pressing F8 when windows starts to load. This feature can be extremely useful when testing a computer for possible compatibility with an existing disk image, as it greatly simplifies the recovery process if the computer should fail to start from the HAL being tested. The video demonstrates how to use the wizard to configure the emergency recovery menu however, as you may notice from the list of actions available from the drop down list, the wizard can also be used to permanently change the HAL being used or force the recovery menu to display every time the computer starts. |
