The screenshot opposite is a sample emergency recovery menu created by the HAL Test Wizard; the menu's appearence is dependent on what action is chosen when using the wizard.

Selecting 'Configure a boot menu from the HALs in the list below' will result in this menu displaying every time the computer starts. It will wait up to 30 seconds for a selection to be made before it will start from the default menu setting.

Selecting 'Force the computer to use the HAL selected in the list below' completely disables this recovery menu and removes all the files necessary to support its use.

If 'Force the selected HAL and configure an emergency boot menu' is selected the computer will start from the default menu setting without displaying the menu, however the menu can be accessed by pressing 'F8' as soon as Windows starts to load.
