Load the Desktop Update Wizard.

Start the SchoolSuite Desktop Update Wizard from the Windows Start menu, a window similar to the welcome message opposite should be displayed.

Enter the shared network desktop folder path.

Either manually type the path to the shared desktop folder on the network or click on the browse button to select it from a folder browser dialogue window. You will only be able to click on the 'Next' button if a valid path is entered.

The wizard will try and detect the shared folder automatically if it has not been used on a given computer before.

Select the user group folders to be synchronised.

The wizard will examine each sub folder in the desktop folder selected in the previous step and display a summary of it's findings. If the wizard detects that any files have been added, moved, deleted or modified since the last update it will suggest these folders be updated by pre-selecting them for you.

If the desktop folder contains sub folders that are not not used or will never need to be cached, you can exclude them by right clicking on the required folder and selecting 'Exclude Folder' from the menu. The wizard will remember excluded folders in future and will not check their status unless you choose to include them again.

You can choose to update the cache files suggested by the wizard or select any of the folders listed that have not been excluded.

Review the desktop update summary.

In order to give you the opportunity to change a previous step, the wizard will display a summary of the folders to be updated and wait for you to click the 'Next' button to continue or the 'Back' button go go back and change something.

Wait for the the synchronisation process to complete.

Once the 'Next' button has been pressed the wizard will update the cache files for the folders you selected in the previous step, the wizard will then close.
